Norfolk Audit Services - Anti Fraud Checklist
Are you doing all you can to protect your school from fraud?
As a Chair of School Governors or Headteacher you play a key role in protecting your school and the Council against the risks of fraud and corruption. Fraud within the public sector costs the taxpayer millions of pounds each year and this is a particular concern when school finances are as tight as they are at the moment.
In February this year Norfolk Audit Services (NAS) carried out a survey open to Headteachers and school finance staff to assess and raise awareness of anti fraud procedures within Norfolk schools. We had a limited response to the survey and in order to give all Headteachers and Governing Bodies the opportunity to review anti fraud awareness in their school we have agreed with the Director of Children's Service's to provide a checklist that you can use to provide assurance that all is well or to identify gaps in knowledge that need some action.
The checklist should be completed at a Governors meeting before the 31 December 2011 and noted in the minutes, along with a date when any necessary actions will be reviewed.

Details of the anti fraud survey results will be included in our summer term Audit Newsletter for Schools available on Norfolk Audit Services website which can be reached by selecting Finance on the Norfolk Schools website.
