Further to the Updata Spring Newsletter, your current Smoothwall filtering is being migrated over to Netsweeper Web Filtering by the end of July 2016.

Netsweeper internet filtering platform will include the following specific features:

• Customisable specific URL whitelists and blacklists catering for filtering specific URLs
• Customisable URL filtering for specific domains
• Filtering based on content that is grouped into specific categories based on the Netsweeper global categorisation engine
• Blocking of specific file extensions being downloaded and uploaded via the filtering platform

As with the current Smoothwall arrangements each school will be required to sign a declaration to manage Netsweeper filtering at their own school level or for ICT Shared Services to manage on your behalf. A new declaration document will be sent out shortly for you to complete and return to ICT Shared Services.

Training Sessions on Netsweeper / Online Safety have been arranged for schools to familiarise yourself with the new product and online safety processes and guidance. Places are limited to one delegate per school and are available to book on SLA Online by 17th June 2016. There are no charges for this training. Online Safety training will be covered by Jill Duman, Adviser for Educator Solutions.
