Supporting Designated Safeguarding Leads to Deliver Safeguarding Training

Statutory guidance states that all school staff members should receive appropriate safeguarding and child protection training that is regularly updated; in Norfolk this is at least annually. Training materials to support schools and colleges in this are provided for Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSLs) by the local authority and are available, free of charge, on the My School webpages.

Two new sessions are now available to book that will support any DSL who intends to deliver that training in their school or college. Sessions will describe what statutory guidance says about school safeguarding training and how schools can satisfy their obligations. They will walk through the materials provided by the local authority to provide context and background, and describe what preparations are required. The session will also allow discussion about what would make a good safeguarding training session.

As these short sessions are provided free of charge, no refreshments will be provided. There will be one session in Norwich and one in King's Lynn. As the training materials are written for DSLs to deliver, only DSLs should attend one of these sessions. Please visit http://s4s.norfolk.gov.uk/Search/supporting%20designated%20Leads for more information and to book your DSL's place.
