Admissions policy

School admission policy : 2020/21 (Agreed)

Children whose fifth birthday falls between 1st September and 28th February will be admitted fulltime in September.

Those children whose fifth birthdays fall between 1st March and 31st August will attend part-time, 5 mornings per week, until the autumn half-term with the offer of a full-time place thereafter if the headteacher considers the child is ready for full days. Otherwise they may attend fulltime from the beginning of the spring term.

Caston is a Church of England school, but we welcome children from families of all faiths or none.

In the event of over subscription, priority will be given to

  1. Children with a statement of special education needs which names the school,

  2. Looked after children,

  3. Siblings of children attending the school at the time of their admission from within the catchment area villages of Caston, Griston and Stow Bedon,

  4. Children from the catchment,

  5. Siblings of children attending the school at the time of their admission from outside the catchment,

  6. Children whose parents regularly attend church and wish for a Church of England education where none is available in their catchment,

  7. Children who live outside the catchment.

If there is more than one child with equal priority competing for a place the final judgment will be based on who has the shortest journey between home and the school.
