School admission policy : 2024/25 (Agreed)

The criteria for admission is as follows:



  1. children with statements which names the school or who are looked after by the LEA

  2. looked after children as designated by the LEA

  3. Children living in the parishes of Walpole St. Andrew, Walpole St. Peter and Walpole Marsh

  4. children who already have siblings at the school at the time of their admission to school

  5. children of regular worshipping members of the Church of England(Regular = attendance at Church services at least once a month)
    ;

  6. children of regular worshipping members of a non Anglican Christian Church(Regular = attendance at Church Services at least once a month)

  7. children whose parents, if not worshipping members of a Christian Church, nevertheless wish their child to attend a Church of England aided school because of its specifically religious emphasis.


If all children within any of the above rules cannot be offered a place, the highest priority will be given to children living nearest the school on a straight line crow fly basis.

When the school is oversubscribed, after the admission of Children with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) where the Academy is named, priority for admission will be given to those children who meet the criteria set out below:

1.        Looked after children and previously looked after children3 including those who appear (to the Admissions Authority) to have been in state care outside of England4 and ceased to be in state care as a result of being adopted.

2.         Sibling: where the child has a sibling in the school or a sibling has already been offered a place at the school, and where the sibling will still be attending the school at the time of admission but not in a specialist unit or a specialist resource base for Hearing Impaired provision or in a nursery/pre-school. Priority will be given, where necessary, to applications where there is the smallest age gap.

3.        Children of staff recruited to fill a vacant post at the school for which there is a demonstrable skill shortage.

4.        Parents or carers of children who are applying for a church place who specifically wish their children to be educated at a Church of England school.

5.        All other applicants
