If the school is over-subscribed children will be offered places according to the criteria listed below, taken in order.

  1. Looked After Children (children in care) and previously looked after children
  2. Siblings, including adopted or foster, of children present at the school at the time the child starts school
  3. Children who have a faith and/or whose parent(s)/carers are committed Church members at a church within the school’s catchment area and wish them to receive an education with a Church of England foundation.  Within this criterion the following hierarchy will be applied 1) Anglican 2) Other Christian denomination 3) other organised religions
  4. Children whose main residence is within the catchment area of the school
  5. Children who have a faith and/or whose parent(s)/carers are committed Church members at a church out of the school’s catchment area and wish them to receive an education with a Church of England foundation.  Within this criterion the following hierarchy will be applied 1) Anglican 2) Other Christian denomination 3) other organised religions
  6. Children who live in the Parishes of Dereham and Scarning
  7. Children of staff
  8. Any other children

If all children within any of the above rules cannot be offered a place, the highest priority will be given to children living nearest to the school judged on a straight line crow fly basis.

Please note that the school will admit a child with a statement of special educational needs that names the school. This is not an oversubscription criterion.

Where the Academy is oversubscribed (there are more applicants than places available) places will be allocated in accordance with the following criteria and in the following order of priority.

1. Looked after children (children in care) and all previously looked after children, including those children who appear (to the admission authority) to have been in state care outside of England and ceased to be in state care as a result of being adopted. Previously looked after children are children who were looked after but ceased to be so because they were adopted (or became subject to a child arrangements order or special guardianship order

2. Siblings of children already at the school living in the catchment area

3. Residence within the catchment area of the

5. Children living out of the catchment area who have a faith and / or whose parents are committed Church members and wish them to receive an education in a school with a Church of England foundation

6. Children of staff where: a member of staff has been employed at the school for two or more years at the time at which the application for admission to the school is made and/or the member of staff is recruited to fill a vacant post where there is a demonstrable skill shortage

7. Children who are due to transfer and live outside the area served by the school who attend a school within DNEAT at the opening date of the admissions round.

8. Resident out of the catchment area of the school

In the event of the having to use a “tie-break” to distinguish between two or more applications of equal strength, the child living the shortest distance from home to school in a straight line as the crow flies route should have priority
