Access to School
Information on EsiNet
Following the launch of the new Norfolk EsiNet website http://www.norfolkesinet.org.uk,
you may require some guidance for accessing the more sensitive information
about your school. This information is contained within the section of EsiNet
called School Management Resources. To
restrict access to legitimate users only, this site is password protected and
uses the same unique school password that was allocated previously for this
purpose.
To access your school’s information, go to the EsiNet home
page and click on the “School Management” button on the left, then on the
“School Management Resources” button, again on the left. Enter your user name (school’s DfES number,
four digits only, omitting 926), and password (previously allocated). If you are unsure about your username or
password, please contact the ICT Solutions helpdesk on 0845 303 3003.
The New School Management Resources Site
On the first page you enter you will be provided with links
to commonly used areas of the School Management Resources section of the site
such as the E-Courier, and the electronic version of “Improving Performance
Step by Step” (e-IPSS). You will also have links to items that have recently
been added to the site.
The rest of the old functionality has been divided between
five pages; Curriculum Resources, Financial, School Administration, School
Performance, SMR Admin.
Access for Governors
Use of sites like the School Management Resources site on
the Internet is of increasing importance. For example, governors may wish to
view the “Improving Performance Step by Step” site. For this reason there are two levels of access to the site,
achieved by using different passwords. One level is for school staff with
management responsibilities, the other for governors. The managers’ level has
access to everything restricted, but the governor’s level will only allow
access to appropriate items.
Headteachers have responsibility for controlling who is given
a password and what the password is. Only headteachers, or those to whom you
have given the manager’s password eg. school clerks, will be able to change a
password. This is done from within the School Management Resources site by
going to the SMR Admin page, and clicking on the “Create/edit Governors
Password” link. It is advisable to
change the governors’ password when a governor leaves.
If you are unsure of the password previously allocated to
governors, go to the SMR Admin page and click on “View governors password”.
It is hoped that this approach will continue to enhance the
potential of the internet as a means of sharing information with appropriate
audiences.
Access out of School
It should be noted that anyone who has a password can access
the appropriate section of “School Management Resources” from any computer with
internet access by dialing in to the Norfolk Esinet http://www.norfolkesinet.org.uk.
