Excluded Pupils:- Changes to Secondary
Performance Tables – Maintained Secondary and Special Schools.
1.
The purpose of
this letter is to tell you about the arrangements for the collection of the Excluded
Pupils:- Changes to the Secondary Performance Tables survey.
2.
As in previous
years we will be collecting information on pupils admitted to your school that
were permanently excluded from another school in the current and previous school
year. This
survey collects information on the number of pupils aged 14 and 15 years old
only, on roll for one or more days between the 1st of September 2002
and the census date in 15th January 2004, that were permanently
excluded from another maintained school either in the current year or in the previous
school year when aged 14. This is required in order to make adjustments to the count
of 15 year old pupils on the 2004 school performance tables. The policy provides an incentive to schools
to admit a pupil who has been permanently excluded from another school.
Summary
3.
Our preferred
method for schools to submit their data to the DfES is via our website: www.dfes.gov.uk/datacollection
- using the username and password previously issued for other DfES Data
Collection surveys such as September Pupil Count 2003 and School to School
Transfer. We do not intend to re-issue your username and password so if you are
unsure as to what they are please contact your LEA who will be able to supply
them to you. We are not routinely issuing forms, however, if your school does
not have access to the Internet or for other reasons feel that you should have
a paper return, please contact the Helpdesk on 01325 392626 and a paper form will be provided.
Action
4.
The website
will be available for submission from Thursday
15th January 2004. The date by which all returns must be
submitted through the website is Wednesday
4th February. Any submission after this date will affect the
delivery of your data and hence any possible amendments to your school’s
results in the school performance tables.
If you have any queries, please contact your
LEA who will be able to assist you or forward your query on to the DfES.
Your assistance in the completion of this survey is greatly
appreciated.
