Dear «HT_Title» «HT_Surname»

Key Stages 3, 4 and 5 results analyses 2003

I am pleased to enclose a number of reports that have been produced from information and software provided by the National Consortium for Examination Results (NCER).  Attached is a list showing which reports are enclosed.  You will see that further reports are available on request, as are NCER’s guidance notes on using the Pupil Referenced Analysis and the Curriculum Area Study. There are other reports, not mentioned in the list, which might help with specific projects - please don’t hesitate to phone me to discuss your requirements.

The enclosed reports are PROVISIONAL because they are based on the data provided to NCER by the examination boards prior to any appeals or corrections. For KS4 and 5, please let me know of any agreed changes to individual candidate grades.  If you are able to send me a copy of the correspondence from the Board, I will update our database to ensure any subsequent reports relating to your school reflect the changes.  For KS3, I will receive a revised dataset from DfES eventually, but I would be pleased to know of any amendments in the meantime.

Please note that the value added graphs make use of last year’s regression lines.  This is because the current year’s lines are not yet available (but they are not expected to be very different from last year’s).

If you have a sixth form, you will find that all A Level (and equivalent) reports are based on the results of final year candidates only.  Candidates in the Year 12 or 14 age-range are included as final year candidates if they have just completed one or more A2 level exams or equivalent.

I hope you find this information helpful and, as always, I would welcome any feedback.

Next week I expect to receive the latest Fischer Family Trust data and I should be able to send you the KS4 estimates for 2005 based on the KS3 results from last term, as mentioned in Terry Cook’s “Target Setting Pack” sent earlier this term.

Yours sincerely
