Dear Colleague
I am sure you
are aware of the significant energy we have been spending with BT to improve
the quality and robustness of the ISP Service.
I understand
the Service has improved significantly since last term but is still not perfect
and still needs further development however I am very encouraged by the progress
made to date.
The attached
letter sets out in some detail both changes implemented since last term and
proposed developments with the Service.
As part of the process of measuring improvement, schools are being asked
to carry out some further tests similar to those undertaken last term.
The letter
also outlines best practice in the area of Acceptable Use Policies, in
particular it gives an example of a policy used by a local school, as a good
example on how individual schools need to respond, in a balanced way, to this
very important area. Also enclosed with
this letter are copies of the UK Online/Home Office publication, Keeping your
child safe on the Internet, which I hope you will find a useful guide on minimising
the risk to your pupils when using the Internet.
I will be
ensuring regular updates are provided to schools on progress with developments
of the Service by letter; by the regular ICT Electronic Bulletin and by
information available on the ICT Solutions website.
Yours
sincerely
Director of
Education
