ALL NORTHERN AREA HEADTEACHERS
Dear Colleague,
School Improvement Support
You will know that
Jeff Gough, the Senior Education Officer responsible for School and L.E.A.
Effectiveness, will leave his post at the end of January. Jeff has been an influential and
highly-valued colleague, who is widely respected throughout the County and we
wish him a long and happy retirement.
Richard Potts,
currently the School Improvement Support Officer in the Central Area, will be
replacing Jeff from 1st February.
At the same time, we
are taking the opportunity to refocus school support work, to meet a range of
new national and local initiatives.
Chris Wilson-Town,
who joined the Northern Area in January 2002, will remain as School Improvement
Support Officer, based in North Walsham.
Elsewhere in the
County, Tim Newton, formerly based in the Northern Area but currently serving
the Western Area, will further add to his comprehensive knowledge of Norfolk's
schools by taking responsibility for the Central Area at Easter.
Tim's current post will
be taken over by a newly-appointed School Improvement Support Officer, Mike
Simm. Mike has worked in a variety of
schools, but is presently the Key Stage 3 Strategy Manager and an adviser with
Liverpool L.E.A. In the South/Eastern
Area, Bill Russell takes over from Harmer Parr, who has been appointed to Her
Majesty's Inspectorate of Schools. Bill
was previously the Senior Adviser for School Effectiveness in the area and will
be based in Great Yarmouth.
Chris Hey, the Senior
Education Officer who has been involved in school support and partnership work
in West Norfolk, will take up a Countywide brief to support the development of
increased partnership working. He will
also assume school improvement responsibilities for the Thetford schools.
The L.E.A. is
committed to continuous improvement in its services to schools and looks
forward to continued close collaboration and partnership with you. This letter has been copied to your Chair of
Governors, for information.
Yours sincerely,
Sue Rossiter
Deputy Director of
Education
