ALL WESTERN AREA HEADTEACHERS
Dear Colleague,
School Improvement Support
You will know that
Jeff Gough, the Senior Education Officer responsible for School and L.E.A.
Effectiveness, will leave his post at the end of January. Jeff has been an influential and
highly-valued colleague, who is widely respected throughout the County and we
wish him a long and happy retirement.
Richard Potts,
currently the School Improvement Support Officer in the Central Area, will be
replacing Jeff from 1st February.
This has provided the
LEA with an opportunity to refocus its school support work, in the light of new
challenges arising from a number of new local and national initiatives.
In consequence, Tim
Newton, the School Improvement Support Officer currently based in King's Lynn,
will be moving to the Central Area at Easter.
Schools in the Western Area will be served by a newly-appointed School
Improvement Support Officer, Mike Simm.
Mike has worked in a variety of schools throughout the country and is
currently an adviser and the Key Stage 3 Strategy Manager in Liverpool.
Chris Hey has
completed his two year secondment focussing on school support and partnership
working in the Western area and will now take up an expanded brief to support
the development of increased partnership working throughout the County. He will remain involved in a number of
Western area local projects and will also take responsibility for the SISO role
for the Thetford schools, following Mike's arrival.
Elsewhere in the
County, Bill Russell, formerly the Senior Adviser for School Effectiveness, has
taken over as School Improvement Support Officer in the South/Eastern Area,
based in Great Yarmouth. Chris
Wilson-Town will remain as School Improvement Support Officer in the Northern
Area, based in North Walsham.
The L.E.A. is
committed to continuous improvement in its services to schools and looks
forward to continued close collaboration and partnership with you. This letter has been copied to your Chair of
Governors, for information.
Yours sincerely,
Sue Rossiter
Deputy Director of
Education
