Letter to Headteachers of all Primary & Special Schools

Dear Colleague

NOF County Outdoor Education Bid

Enclosed with this letter is a feedback audit form in respect of outdoor education provision in Norfolk.  It would be most helpful if you could complete and return this form to us no later than Monday, 24 February 2003.  Please note that all forms received by this date will be entered into a draw to receive a complimentary introductory session for up to 12 young people at Whitlingham Country Park.

This NOF funding programme offers an exciting opportunity to develop outdoor activity provision for school pupils and adults in Norfolk.  There are 3 projects proposed:

·        a new outdoor activity centre at Whitlingham Broad (to replace Filby) offering water, land and environmental activities;

·        the development of an outdoor learning daybase at Holt Hall offering high ropes and problem solving/challenge activities alongside existing field and environmental studies;

·        the creation of a number of mobile projects offering the opportunity for use on school sites or at other suitable locations.  Each trailer unit will offer a specific activity ranging from introductory outdoor learning resources (including an Early Years Unit and Environmental Education Unit) to mountain boarding and a mobile climbing resource.

NOF have an expectation that through these projects, pupils and the wider community will have improved access to activity provision within and beyond the curriculum.

Yours sincerely

Dr Bryan Slater
