The restructuring last September of the Education Welfare Service to become the Norfolk Pupil Attendance Service has enabled an increasing focus to be placed on the need to improve the level of attendance in our schools.

It is our intention to publicise the need for improved attendance at school and I attach a copy of a leaflet which has been specifically designed for parents. Whilst this sample is black and white, the final copy will be in colour. The potential for such a leaflet was supported by Headteachers and Chairs of Governors at the meetings held last summer. It is suggested that you decide the particular target group(s) within your school and arrange for the leaflets to be distributed as appropriate on that basis. You may wish to target all parents or just those whose children are in particular year group(s).
