Extra Inset Day for Teachers

Summary of contents

The DfES has amended the regulations to enable schools to have an additional day's training for the teaching of pupils in Key Stage 3 in school year 2001/2002. Schools with Key Stage 3 pupils may therefore devote a maximum of six days for training in 2001/2002.

This confirms information previously given at the launch meetings of the Key Stage 3 strategy.

The LEA recommends that out of the six days available, schools' devote two days to Literacy and Numeracy across the Curriculum using resources provided by the national Key Stage 3 strategy.
