Dear Colleague

Admission Arrangements for the School Year 2002/03

The Authority is required to consult on its admission arrangements for the school year 2002/03 by the end of February. With this letter are a proposed timetable and details of a proposed change that would affect over-subscription criteria on occasions when children are admitted to a middle school when their local primary school is full. Proposals to make changes that would affect the areas of Kirstead, Hellesdon, Sprowston, Taverham and Horning will be discussed more fully at a local level. Otherwise proposed arrangements will be as set out in the Information for Parents Booklet for 2001/02.

The LEA has a duty to consult annually with governors of individual schools on admission limits. An information sheet is enclosed which details the suggested admission limit for 2002/03. For a number of schools this will differ from the admission limit published in 2001/02. It is intended that admission limits will be aligned to school’s standard numbers, providing the standard number corresponds with the school’s capacity and providing this exercise will not conflict with infant class sizes. A more detailed explanation is provided on the enclosed information sheet. Governors are asked to consider the suggested admission limit.

Please could you return the form on Admission Limits as indicated at the bottom of the form. Any comments on the general admission arrangements should be sent to the same address. All comments need to be received by 28th February.

Yours sincerely

Director of Education
