Summary of contents |
The attached letter informs schools:
- about a change to the 2001/02 published holiday dates that will reduce the school year by one day;
- of the
term dates for school year 2002/03 as agreed with the JCC Teachers’ Panel;
of a national consultation exercise by the Local Government Association (LGA) to obtain the views of a wide cross-section of teaching and support staff on the findings of the independent commission on the organisation of the school year;
that the LEA wishes to encourage schools to schedule staff training days to coincide with the Royal Norfolk Show and Election days, where relevant.

Headteachers are requested to:
- inform staff and parents of the change to the published summer half-term holiday dates in 2002 and to note that the 2001/02 school year will be reduced by one day – date to be determined shortly;
- inform staff and parents of the agreed dates for 2002/03;
- take into account the impact on pupil attendance during the Royal Norfolk Show and Election Days when setting dates for future staff training days.
