Dear Colleague
SENJIT (Special Educational Needs Joint Initiative for Training)
In order to further extend the National INSET opportunities available for staff in the area of Special and Additional Educational Needs the LEA has purchased a year’s trial subscription to SENJIT (Special Educational Needs Joint Initiative for Training) run by the Institute of Education, University of London. This will offer a range of courses, bespoke INSET, publications and support groups for school and LEA staff to access (mostly at no cost to individuals except for travel). SEN Networks might find SENJIT are able to respond to requests for speakers for their larger meetings. The summer 2002 newsletter outlining the course programme is attached.
Future copies of the newsletter will be mailed directly to schools by SENJIT. Key LEA personnel and Heads of Service will also receive copies of the newsletter.
Steve Lord (Senior Adviser for SEN) will gather feedback on the take up of this additional service at the end of the first year’s subscription, to help gauge its value for money and inform the decision regarding renewal.
Yours sincerely
Bryan Slater
Director of Education
