To Headteachers of all Middle and Junior Schools
Dear Colleague,
Collection of Assessment Data Summer Term 2002
We are writing to confirm the arrangements for the end of year assessment data collection. We are determined to make the best possible use of the available technology to reduce the demands placed on teachers, managers and clerical staff.
Key Stage 2
As last year, we are requesting schools to forward end of Key Stage 2 results as soon as they arrive in schools. This is to enable the LEA to aggregate schools’ results in order to calculate Norfolk figures. With a full and prompt response from schools, we hope to share the Norfolk figures with you before the end of term. To make the collection easier and quicker, this year we will collect the results on line. Guidance on how to do this will be sent to you later this term. Results are due into schools from the marking agencies by Tuesday 9th July and we are asking you to let us have the information by Friday 12th July.

QCA Optional Tests: Years 3, 4, 5 and 7
You will recall Terry Cook’s letter dated 10th September 2001, explaining that the LEA would pay for the QCA Optional Tests in 2002, and that we would be asking you to send us your test results for aggregation and analysis. To do this quickly and easily we will collect the data from you through Phoenix in the same way that this year’s PLASC data was collected. Guidance on how to do this will be available on the ICT solutions web site http://ictsolutions.norfolk.gov.uk to coincide with the next release of Phoenix. We will be asking you to submit the data by Friday 28th June.
We are aware that Phoenix does not currently provide reports with aggregated school data for the QCA Optional Tests, but we will provide you with some aggregated figures for your school. We will also provide some comparative data electronically as soon as we have received sufficient data.
Please note we are NOT asking schools for data from the Year 7 Progress Tests.
Should you wish to make contact with us about the above arrangements, please feel free to email either Terry Cook at terry.cook.edu@norfolk.gov.uk , or Chris Jackson at chris.jackson.edu@norfolk.gov.uk .
Yours sincerely
Terry Cook Chris Jackson (Mrs)
