I attach with this letter a copy of a new pro forma that will be used by members of the Youth Offending Team to request information from you in respect of pupils who may have committed an offence. The Crime and Disorder Act 1998 provides legal authority for the disclosure of personal information where this is necessary.

Poor engagement with education is closely associated with offending behaviour. It is vitally important that the Youth Offending Team has accurate and up to date information on educational attainment and status so that full account of this can be taken when drawing together programmes for individuals. The Youth Offending Team will wish to work closely with you to try and ensure that good educational progress is made.
