 Dear Headteacher

Thank you for your past support in providing data on unfilled vacancies and temporary appointments. It is essential that we continue to collect this data on the staffing position in all schools on the first day of each term in order that we can accurately identify trends. Significant funding for Recruitment and Retention initiatives has been bought into the county as a result of this information.

Wherever possible data is collated from information already held within the education department. However, the numbers of unfilled vacancies and temporary staffing solutions are known only to the schools. For this reason I ask every school to complete this termly data request.

This information will enable us to work more effectively to support schools experiencing recruitment difficulties and to develop alternative training routes for teachers who are committed to teaching in Norfolk.
