The Designated Teacher will be a member of the school staff with sufficient authority to influence school policy and practice
The Designated Teacher is an important resource for the child, carers and parents, social workers and other teachers, school governors and support staff.
The Designated Teacher will be an advocate for young people in public care, accessing services and support and ensuring that the school share and supports high expectations for them.
The Designated Teacher will, with the Social Worker, ensure that the Personal Education Plan is completed and kept up to date.
The Designated Teacher may have a wider role in overseeing the education of all children known to Social Services.
The Designated Teacher will be the main contact for the child, its carers and parents and social worker.
The Designated Teacher will work closely with the Education Coordinator in promoting and monitoring the progress of all children looked after who attend the school.
The Designated Teacher will be able to access training provided by the Local Authority.
