Every school to receive explanatory letter outlining the proposed target setting process. Letter will detail time scales and activities to be undertaken. |

First half of Autumn term |
Schools to bring together target setting data and discuss with staff to initiate the process of compiling provisional targets. |

By October 30 |
All schools to receive newly designed target setting proforma from the LEA with their school indicative targets printed on them. |

Between 30 October and 30 November |
Schools to use LEA indicative targets, Autumn Package 2001 data and School level data to set provisional targets and submit to their RDA by 30 November. |

Between 30 November and 7 December |
LEA analyses school level data and produces LEA predictive targets based upon composite school results. |
|
Between 7 December and 20 December |
RDA to finally negotiate school level targets with each school in light of composite LEA predictive targets. Headteacher, Chair of Governors and RDA to complete and sign target setting proforma. |
