HALF DAY TRAINING FOR EXPERIENCED YEAR 2 TEACHERS

Wednesday 30 January 2002 West Norfolk PDC (1YN005)

Course Fee: £48 Times: 1.30-4.30pm

A half day course to support experienced teachers in their preparation for statutory assessment at the end of Key Stage 1 in 2002.

The programme will be planned to take account of any new requirements for 2002.

By the end of the course participants will have a good understanding of:

Implications for Teaching and Learning from the 2001 tasks and tests

Requirements and issues for the 2002 tasks and tests

The characteristics of writing at the borderline of levels, particularly level 3.

This course is intended for teachers in schools which will not be subject to statutory audit through cluster groups in 2002.

A similar programme will be covered in the statutory cluster group meetings later in the spring term.

FULL DAY TRAINING FOR TEACHERS NEW TO YEAR 2

Course Fee: £100 Times: 9.30am-3.30pm

A one day course to support teachers who are new to Year 2, or who have not taught Year 2 for some time, in their preparation for statutory assessment at the end of Key Stage 1 in 2002.

The programme will be planned to take account of any new requirements for 2002.

By the end of the course participants will:

be clear about the statutory requirements for assessing Year 2 children
be aware of how to plan the assessment period to make it manageable
have discussed samples of children’s work and feel some confidence in deciding levels

A half day course to support classroom assistants in their work with teachers in the statutory assessment at the end of Key Stage 1 in 2002.

By the end of the course participants will:

Have a clear overview of end of Key Stage 1 assessment requirements
Be aware of the nature of the assessment materials
Have confidence to support the teacher in carrying out the assessments
