LEA Personnel Handbook

I am very pleased to be able to tell you about another enhancement to the support services provided for you by the Education Personnel Services team.

A key component of the unit's services to schools is the LEA Personnel Handbook of model policies, procedures and advice. As part of our policy to make the best possible use of electronic communication to carry out our day-to-day business, we have recently published the Handbook via the Esinet site for schools(see under News and Updates). This will enable us to make more timely updates to the Handbook, and enable you to benefit from speedier access to an up-to-date computerised version of the Handbook.

I do hope that you find this new facility helpful. The confidential password to enable you to access the Handbook is given on the accompanying Management Information sheet 194/00 and it would be appreciated if this password is known and used only by appropriate school staff. If you experience any difficulties with accessing the Handbook, please contact Iain Watson in the Management Information Centre on 01603 224282, or by e-mail on iain.watson.edu@norfolk.gov.uk.

If you have any comments on the Esinet version of the Personnel Handbook or any suggestions for further improvement, please contact Virginia Wakely on 01603 223482, or by e-mail on virginia.wakely.edu@norfolk.gov.uk. You may also contact her if you require a hard copy of the Handbook (some schools have already done this and these will be issued). However, please note, only one hard copy will be issued per school upon request.

For schools that do not purchase a service from Education Personnel Services there will not be access to the Personnel Handbook (and the Management Information Sheet 194/00 is not attached). However, these schools can have the LEA's standard procedures on staff adjustments, conduct, lack of capability, grievance and dismissal on request but without the full guidance and supporting appendices.
