Universal Utilities
The Corporate Purchasing Unit has been made aware of an incident in which a Norfolk school was contacted by a company requesting an appointment to come and carry out a check of the school’s electrical systems. The company, Universal Utilities said they were providing this service as part of a Government backed initiative and indicated check was compulsory.
The school initially agreed to the appointment but contacted the Education Department for further information and advice.
On further investigation it was found that Universal Utilities are an independent utility broker and have no connection with the government. The school was advised to cancel the appointment and request that Universal Utilities present their credentials in writing before they tried to make another appointment.
It is possible that Universal Utilities will try to contact other schools in the Norfolk area. If you are approached by this company do not agree to an appointment. Contact the Corporate Purchasing Unit on 01603 222820, advising them of the date and time of the call and if possible the name of the person who contacted you.
