Dear Headteacher

CHANGES IN PUPIL NUMBERS 2001/02

In accordance with Norfolk’s Formula Factors, please find enclosed 4 appendices (A – D) which can provide additional funding for the current or forthcoming financial year.

Pupil Turbulence (Appendix A)

Schools with large numbers of pupil movements during an academic year qualify for funding. Schools will receive funding for each joiner and each leaver above 10% of the Form 7 for the academic year. Please complete enclosed appendix A if you qualify for funding.

Service Families (Appendix B)

Any school with more than 15% of children from service families will qualify for a budget enhancement. Please complete enclosed appendix B, if this applies on the PLASC Return 2002.

Temporary/Seasonal Increase (Appendix C)

This factor compensates schools for temporary increases in pupil numbers not recorded on the January pupil count. This is when a pupil attends school for at least 20 consecutive days, excluding training days and half term breaks. Please complete enclosed appendix C if you qualify for funding.

Significant Increase (Appendix D)

This compensates schools who receive a large number of additional pupils during the spring and summer terms that were not present on January pupil count. Please complete appendix D if you qualify for funding.

It should be noted that schools qualifying for more than one of the temporary, significant and pupil turbulence can only claim one factor (whichever is the most beneficial to them). Each school that completes a claim by 31 January will be notified of the funding implications for the 2002/03 financial year, by 18 February 2002.

If you have any queries regarding this, please contact either Karl Murphy-Barnes on the above number, or Karen Johnson on 01603 223546.

Yours sincerely
