Summary of contents |
The DfES have
published a consultation document on a proposal to provide a consistent,
publicly available school profile for all schools. It is proposed that the
school will generate the profile, in part, from DfES supplied data. The DfES has asked
for responses by 18 June 2004. |

At its most recent meeting the School Improvement Group, which includes representation from teacher and headteacher associations, governors and the LEA, the DfES proposal on School profiles was considered.
Concern was expressed that it appeared that this consultation was not widely known about in schools and the LEA therefore agreed to advise schools of its existence.
The consultation is on a DfES proposal to rationalise the current reporting requirements of schools through requiring schools to produce an annual report consisting of specific comments and measures. Whilst schools will be free to provide additional information, some elements are likely to be mandatory. Given the potential impact of some of this information the School Improvement Group was anxious to ensure all schools are aware of the proposals and want to encourage schools to reply to the consultation.
