County Council Education Department
Designated
Teachers for Children Looked After
Dear Headteacher
The local Education Authority is required by the Department for Education and Skills to ensure that every school
has a Designated Teacher for Children Looked After. Children Looked After are those who are accommodated by
Social Services with Foster Carers or in Children's Homes.
I would be grateful if you would confirm the name of your designated teacher for Children Looked After for the academic
year 2004 – 5, by completing and returning the slip at the bottom of this letter.
This will enable us to update our data base, so that correspondence regardiing Looked After Children in your school can
be mailed directly to your designated teacher and advises us of the named person to contact when enquiries arise.
Thank you in anticipation for your co-operation.
Dr Bryan Slater
