Two copies of the above document will be enclosed in the schools post on the 3rd September 2004.
Dear Headteacher,
For some time now we
have had a draft document available to guide good practice in running
educational visits. During the year the LEA has consulted widely on the
document and I am please to commend this new version.
Our aims are:
This new document
sets out the essential process to be followed to ensure effective school
visits. It also includes a considerable amount of helpful reference material.
We have agreed with teacher and headteacher representatives that the document
will be subject to regular update. The live version will always be the on-line
version. We welcome your comments and suggestions for further improvement.
Yours sincerely
Bryan Slater
Director of Education
Briefing paper Introducing the NCC Educational Visits and
Journeys – Guidance and Procedures Document (EVJ). Version 1
The EVJ is a ‘live’
document and can be found in its most up-to-date version on www.norfolkesinet.org.uk under
School Management and Governance. All forms from the EVJ document will be
accessible to download directly from the website. A table of changes will alert
you to any modifications.
There are a number of
changes that have been made to the EVJ document in order to make it as user
friendly as possible. These are as follows:
The document is now
sub-divided into 4 sections;
· Section 4 – Good Practice Guidance for Adventurous Activities, Fieldwork, Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme and Visits Abroad.
Sections 1 and 2
contain the information that is needed for organising an educational visit.
-
Quick reference summary of who needs to approve different categories of visit.
NVAF1 and the UKRVAF1 forms.
Sections 3 and 4
continue to mirror the DfES document ‘Health and Safety of Pupils on
Educational Visits’ (HASPEV). These sections contain detailed information to
support the organisation of educational visits and are for reference.
The EVJ document will
remain accessible through the Norfolk esinet along with the following
additional support:
As you will be
aware, schools will need to have approval in place (for educational visits
requiring LEA approval) from October half term (MI 86-04). The LEA will continue supporting educational
establishments through the process of organising and approving educational
visits. We are pleased to welcome the new Educational Visits Adviser, Tom
Hanrahan. This appointment will provide dedicated support in this area from the
beginning of September 2004.
In the meantime any
