School signage

Accuracy

You will be aware that school Governors are responsible for the signage used in and around school. It is therefore the responsibility of Governors to ensure the signs are safe, maintained and kept up to date. Unfortunately a number of people have contacted the County Council to complain about inaccuracies on school signs. We have, of course, contacted the schools concerned directly to advise them of the issue.

The main source of complaint is not trivial as it is about the inclusion on signs of the names of staff that have left and, in some cases, died. Understandably this has proved to be distressing to their relatives. Therefore you are requested to check your signs and correct them as necessary, in particular signs that carry names of staff and other personnel. If you are changing your signs you may wish to reconsider the long-term benefits of excluding any information that may change during the life time of the sign.

The Norfolk Logo

You may be aware that Norfolk has recently updated its corporate logo. If you wish to include the logo on your school signs details are available on EsiNet @ Home » School Management » Managers and Administrators » School Buildings » Managing Premises Issues » Altering & Improving the Premises

We also have a small supply of self-adhesive logos suitable for sticking on external and internal signs. These are 10cm by 30cm. If you would like one or more please contact Sheila Smith x01603 222503 or e-mail sheila.smith.edu@norfolk.gov.uk
