Leading Mathematics Teachers in Norfolk

We now have approximately 40 Primary Leading Mathematics Teachers (LMTs) in Norfolk with a considerable range of skills and expertise which they are willing to share with colleagues as a way to develop their own practice as well as that of others.

A new development this year is the organisation of Subject Leader Cluster Networks, each of which will be supported by one of the Numeracy Advisers.  Subject Leaders will be shortly be invited to the first termly meeting and will be offered half a day of supply to complete follow-up work in their own schools.  I hope you will encourage your subject leader to attend, as we will be giving updates on recent developments within both the Primary Strategy and Norfolk, as well as providing sessions aimed at developing their role.

The following areas form part of the support that the LMT can offer to schools:

Demonstration lessons

Support for Newly Qualified Teachers

Support for Subject Leaders

Further information about each of the above sections can be found on the Norfolk Esinet website by accessing the ‘Leading Maths Teachers’ section under Primary mathematics.

Mathematics Helpline Online

This facility may be of interest to all staff within your school.  By logging on to Norfolk’s Esinet website and selecting ‘Forums’ from the home page, you will be able to access the Mathematics Helpline section and post any queries you have in the ‘Questions’ folder.  One of the Mathematics Team will check this facility on a regular basis and respond promptly.

New Leading Mathematics Teachers

We are always looking to add further teachers to our list.  If you feel that someone in your school would be able to provide good quality lessons and lead a discussion about that lesson and other issues to do with the teaching of mathematics, please contact me to put forward their name.

Best wishes
