Key Stage 1 Assessment and Moderation in 2005

1.      As you will be aware, there are significant changes proposed to the assessment arrangements at Key Stage 1.  The time line for the national roll out is below.  However, in order to ensure that schools can plan ahead we are writing to inform you about the support and training available.  As in previous years, 25% of schools will have their results moderated through cluster group meetings.  We have now reached the fourth year of the cycle and I list below the schools that will be moderated in cluster groups in 2005.  Further details will be sent to these schools later in the Autumn Term.

2.      Schools with only one Year 2 teacher (and he/she is new to end of Key Stage 1 assessment) will be offered additional support. To help us identify these schools please would you complete and return the electronic form by Friday 15th October 2004.  N.B.  You only need to complete this form if it applies to your school. http://www.esinet.norfolk.gov.uk/advisory/KS1AuditModeration/default.asp

3.      In 2005, we will again be arranging optional moderation meetings for clusters in June.  There is no DfES funding for this but clusters could use part of their further delegated package for the meeting.  Further details will be sent to you later in the Autumn Term.

4.      Details of the Key Stage 1 training can be found on the following Website links:

Please note that the training for experienced Year 2 teachers is not appropriate for schools subject to cluster group moderation (i.e. those listed below) as a similar programme will be covered at the moderation meeting later in the spring term.
