Dear Colleague
Inclusion Week 11th – 15th November 2002
You will be aware through literature sent directly to your school from the Centre for Studies on Inclusive Education (C.S.I.E.) that a national celebration reflecting the extent to which all educational settings are developing inclusive practices is planned to take place between 11th–15th November 2002.
A major exhibition is planned which reflects and celebrates the diversity of activities taking place in Norfolk schools and Support Services. It is planned that the exhibition will initially be displayed at County Hall but will subsequently tour libraries across Norfolk including The Forum and the Professional Development Centres.
I am sure that many colleagues will already be considering in the light of guidelines within the C.S.I.E. literature how you might organise events within and between schools, which demonstrate and celebrate inclusive practices. Colleagues who attend SEN Network meetings will have further opportunity to discuss how the week might be supported. You will additionally receive further information in relation to a practical Working Day for high school staff supported by staff from Pupil Access and Support Services, and a study day organised by the University of East Anglia where Action Research recently undertaken by teachers in Norfolk will be disseminated and discussed.
I am writing to invite your school to contribute to this major exhibition, the aim of which is to celebrate and share a range of practices, which promote Inclusion throughout Norfolk. If you would wish to be involved in contributing to the County exhibition I would be grateful if the attached Guidance be passed to the appropriate member of staff in your school to complete and returned to Sue Tallack.
Yours sincerely
Director of Education
