Dear Colleague,

Building Schools for the Future

I am pleased to enclose a first draft of a statement about secondary education in Norfolk and welcome your views about this important document.

As you know all LEAs must submit an Expression of Interest for Building Schools for the Future funding by the 19th December 2003.  As part of the Expression of Interest we must begin to set out how we will transform secondary education in Norfolk, this statement will form the basis of this but discussions will continue and the statement will develop further.

The draft statement states out how secondary education will be developed over the next 15 years.  This is not intended to replace existing strategies but to ensure that there is an overarching strategic view of how secondary education will be developed in Norfolk.

If you have any comments regarding the enclosed vision please contact Elaine Hopkins by the 5th December at Norfolk County Council, County Hall, Planning & Buildings, Martineau Lane, Norwich NR1 2SF or e-mail Elaine.Hopkins@norfolk.gov.uk.

Yours sincerely

Sue Rossiter

Deputy Director of Education
