I attach two lists relating to this year’s mobile planning process. The first identifies those schools that may require mobile accommodation for September 2003. These have been identified using the following criteria:-

  1. the deficit of forecast roll in 2003/04 (1) against capacity is 27 or more, and;
  2. a deficit at this level or more is expected to continue into 04/05 (1), and;
  3. there are insufficient places in other local schools, and;
  4. we are not aware of any other issues which would stop the siting of a mobile eg, restricted site, building project underway or about to start.

NB The limited funding available for mobile provision means that it will not be possible to provide mobiles for anything other than to meet growth in pupil numbers from within the school’s traditional catchment area.

The second list identifies those schools to be considered for mobile removals. These have been identified using the following criteria:-

  1. the school has mobiles owned by the LEA, and;
  2. the surplus of forecast roll in 2003/04 (1) against capacity is 27 or more, and;
  3. a surplus at this level or more is expected to continue into 04/05 (1), and;
  4. there are no specific issues we are aware of that would stop the removal of a mobile eg, mobile not in a condition to be moved.

At this stage, inclusion on either list does not mean that your school will definitely be receiving or losing mobile accommodation. To help make a final determination, I would be grateful if you would provide the additional information requested in the attached form. Once we have considered this additional information we will contact you again early next term. We will try to coincide with the information from the Admissions Team to all secondary schools regarding their intake numbers for September 2003.

What you need to do

If your school is identified as having a possible mobile accommodation need in September 2003, please fill in and return Form A (pink).

If your school is identified as possibly having surplus accommodation in September 2003, please fill in and return Form B (blue).

If you could return this information by 20th December 2002, this would be very helpful. If this is not possible, the final date to return information is 10th January 2003. If no form is returned by 10th Janaury, we will assume you have no mobile requirements for September 2003 or have no objection to your mobile(s) being removed.
