Dear Headteacher
Several years ago there was a picture loan scheme in operation across Norfolk, organised by the Arts in Education Service. The scheme ceased to operate and many schools returned the pictures and artefacts loaned.
We are now having an “Art Amnesty” in order to gather resources centrally, to re-establish and update the Art loan service to schools and thereby more effectively support the teaching of Art and Design.
Records indicate that many schools still have art loan pictures and artefacts, which now need to be returned by Friday 18th October 2002 to Norwich or West Norfolk Professional Development Centre. Your assistance with this would be greatly appreciated.
We intend to:
· re-catalogue the resources
· cross reference them to the QCA Units of Work for Art & Design.
· use an Esinet website link to enable schools to view the loan gallery and request loans on line.
Whilst appreciating that many schools will be reluctant to part with the art loan pictures, it is important that they are returned in order that they can be of benefit to all schools.
Yours sincerely,
Bryan Slater
Director of Education
