Headteachers of all Norfolk LEA Secondary Schools with Year 7 pupils

I am writing to invite you to nominate and send a key person to a ‘Transition Training Day’.

The aim of the day will be to focus on strategies and activities to support pupils in making effective transition from primary to secondary school. Primary and Key Stage 3 advisers will present a range of national resources for bridging the gap between the end of Year 6 and the start of Year 7.

As the focus is English and Mathematics, it is likely that the Head of Department or a key person would attend for English in the morning and Mathematics in the afternoon. For primary schools the Year 6 leader or a Year 6 teacher would be the most appropriate candidate.

Whilst time in school is precious, it is important that all schools identify a key person to attend one of these days to ensure best possible transition for all pupils.
