Revised
arrangements for GTP (Suffolk and Norfolk GTP Partnership)
Under
the revised arrangements for GTP, due to be implemented this September,
Designated Recommending Bodies will be allocated a quota of places. The Suffolk
and Norfolk GTP partnership has bid for 150 places to be shared between the 2
counties. The Norfolk Administration of the GTP places will be co-ordinated by
Rob Knee (who is also the Suffolk &Norfolk Secondary SCITT Manager) and
Morag Harrhy. They will be based at Woodside Road PDC in Norwich.
A
second consortium based in the west of the county is to be co-ordinated by
Gillian Boon.
Priority
for places (the majority of which will carry both Training Grant and Salary)
will go to Secondary shortage subjects, Primary maths and for Classroom
Assistants.
Tutoring
for GTP follows the familiar approaches of ITT with professional studies being
delivered off site.
There
is a cost to schools of approximately £2500 (to cover shortfall between salary
grant and on costs). Please note
however that there will be £600 per term available for supply cover.
The majority of GTP's are mature "career
changers" and can be regarded as members of staff from the outset and
although their contribution to the timetable is naturally limited in the first
term, during the second and third terms they may well be teaching around 75% of
a normal timetable.
We
are likely to place 25 trainees (Secondary and Primary) this September. We
shall be contacting schools to arrange placements but in the meantime, if you
have not already done so, please contact us if you wish to express an interest.
GTP's
and their schools will be supported by a team of cluster co-ordinators under
the direction of Elaine Gibbs, Professional
Tutor.
