As part of County Council's continual efforts to
improve road safety and driver safety the Norfolk County Council Corporate
Motor Policy was introduced in 2001.
We are planning to commence a
programme of practical driver assessments and training for all employees who
drive school minibuses. The programme is aimed at improving driver safety,
improve driver ability and to reduce the risks to passengers and other road
users. The assessments will be undertaken by professional driving instructors
on behalf of the County Road Safety Unit. All schools that own and run
minibuses will be contacted by the Road Safety Unit, however I are aware that
some schools who do not own their own minibus do regularly borrow minibuses
from nearby schools. If this is the case I would be grateful if you could
contact the school who own the minibus to provide them with a list of drivers.
It wil then be possible to include them in the assessment programme".
