School minibus drivers – final reminder!

The County Council’s Motor Policy sets out certain conditions that apply to our drivers and establishments. One is that all employees who drive a NCC insured minibus on school business must undertake an approved driving assessment and achieve a satisfactory standard. The assessments are funded from the County’s risk management budget and any drivers that need training are provided with it.

The deadline for achieving the assessment requirement is 31 December 2003. After that date, no one will be insured to drive on school business unless and until they have met the standard. To avoid the possibility of some of our employees driving without insurance we are issuing this last reminder.

All relevant schools were contacted several months ago about the arrangements, but a few have yet to respond. Don’t leave it until the very last minute as the assessors may not be able to fit you in – book your assessments as soon as possible.

If you have not yet taken an assessment contact Iain Temperton, Senior Road Safety Officer (Training), on 01603 223362 or Bob Clayton on 01603 223361.
