Dear SENCO,

Please find enclosed a copy of the SENCO training pack delivered with your schools post. Although this is aimed at primary school colleagues, there is information contained within it, which will be of use in a high school.

The pack takes the form of training materials, which could be used and adapted, for a number of purposes, and covers subjects such as:

· assessment, planning and review;

· classroom organisation and the use of human resources;

· curriculum and teaching methods

· an overview of the role of the SENCO.

The section on using additional adults effectively could be easily adapted to help train teaching assistants (section 3 P30 – 32) and the Activity Cards at the back of the file are useful as an extra resource.
