A Message to Schools from Norwich Cycling Campaign

National Bike Week (NBW) takes place this year from 15th – 23rd June 2002,

to promote cycling among both children and adults.

This year we would like to involve Norfolk central area schools through:

1.     A Painting Competition – with a choice of two topics

a) A poster promoting Cycling to School during NBW.

b) Norwich is on Route 1 of the National Cycle Network (NCN) which runs from Dover to John o’Groats. A poster promoting Norwich to potential cycle tourists.

There are 3 categories for entrants corresponding to first, middle and high school age groups.  There will be prizes for the posters judged to be the best, and the runners up,  in each age group, with a smaller prize for the first 100 entries received.  The closing date is Saturday 1st June 2002. Entries should be sent to Norwich Cycling Campaign at the above address.  A selection of the best entries will be displayed in the Forum at the Norwich Central Library during National Bike Week.

2. Bike 2 School week

We would like to know the school with the highest percentage of pupils & staff cycling to school during the week 17-21st June. A separate entry for pupil and staff percentages would be helpful.  Multiple trips by one individual only count once!

Here is a task for senior pupils in your school to count and calculate this percentage, with validation by a staff member.    Please send your entry to us by Saturday

29th June 2002, by post as above or by email info@norwichcycling.fsnet.co.uk

Many other events will be taking place during NBW, including rides at the weekends, for details see our website www.norwichcycling.fsnet.co.uk or look out for posters.

Norwich Cycling Campaign retain the right to make copies and use any, or none, of the competition entries for publicity purposes.  We can return the original art work to the school if requested. A self addressed label would be appreciated.
