We have ascertained an outbreak of
diarrhoea and vomiting in children and staff following a Thorpe St Andrew High
School trip (3rd to 8th June 2002) to Garth Farm, Capel Curig in Snowdonia
Wales run by Artic and Mountain Ventures (Proprietor Owen Hunt). Blythe Jex
School are also there at present.
Norfolk NHS Health Protection Unit are
currently investigating this with Broadland DC Environmental Health Department
(Ivor Bartrum) and the local authorities in Wales.
We thought it important to alert you
formally to this, so that any other proposed school parties to this destination
from Norfolk etc can be properly advised regarding preventive hygiene/safety
measures etc. If there are any such schools they would be well advised to
contact their local Environmental Health Department (who are all aware) or Ivor
Bartrum (01603 703305) or ourselves at 01603 307317 for further advice.
Please get in touch if you need further
information etc.
