Community
Fire Safety Competition 2002
Following
last year’s success in attracting a good response from schools in the West of
the County to participate in a Community Fire Safety competition Norfolk Fire
Service intend to run a county wide event this year.
The
intention of this competition is to encourage various Key stage groups to
consider Fire Safety within their normal curricular activities at the
commencement of the new term, and is likely to become a regular event.
The
theme for this competition has been drawn from National Community Fire Safety
initiatives and will this year be: -
Year five pupils from your school are invited to enter this
competition and design a poster that artistically depicts a typical domestic
fire action plan (The actions a family should take prior to and upon
discovering a fire in their home)
A
representative from Norwich Electrical, the competition sponsors and the Deputy
Chief Fire Officer of Norfolk Fire Service will judge all entries.
The
school supporting the winning entry will receive a cheque for £100 with the
pupil responsible for the poster receiving a smoke detector for the family home
and a book token.
A
presentation of these prizes will be made during the Norfolk Fire Service
achievers lunch on 31st October 2002.

format – A4 card or paper
Competition
restricted to year five
Entries
to be submitted by October 11th with the winner being informed no
later than October 18th.
It
is hoped take up of this invitation will promote Fire Safety awareness and
support a range of Community Safety activities the local authority already
engages in.
