TAMING THE TIGER3rd ANNUAL BEHAVIOUR CONFERENCE:

The aim of this third conference, for senior managers, teachers, teaching assistants and governors, is to both inspire and challenge us to improve classroom practice whatever role we hold.

SPEAKERS (morning session):

Colin Newton and Derek Wilson, Inclusive Solutions

 

WORKSHOPS (afternoon session):

 

Four workshops will be on offer, some of which will draw on themes presented by the speakers.  Each workshop will run twice, enabling delegates to attend two different workshops.  Please indicate your preferences on the booking form.

 

Workshop A

Here Kitty - putting the frameworks into everyday practice.  Key strategies for practitioners: getting from problems to solutions fast.  This seminar will focus upon a “toolkit” of practical strategies and understandings that participants can use to support their work in a wide variety of settings

Workshop B

Circles of Friends: (introductory/intermediate/advanced).  How to build teams around challenging pupils by drawing on a resource which is always there – the children

 

Colin Newton and Derek Wilson Inclusive Solutions

Workshop C

Effective Whole-School Behaviour Management Policies.  This workshop will include audit techniques to help schools self-evaluate current behaviour management and working with students at risk of permanent exclusion

 

Richard Lakin

Senior Education Psychologist, Derby City

Workshop D

Promoting Positive Behaviour – maintaining consistency in unstructured settings eg during lunch and break times, and when moving around the school

Paul Howard Education and Training Consultant

 

Ø       This conference is supported by Standards Fund money

Ø       There are no course fees and half a day’s supply cover is available per delegate

Ø       Supply claims must be submitted to Sue Berrisford at the Professional Development Centre, by 28 March 2003.  Those received after this date cannot be processed.

Ø       Places may be limited to one per school if the demand is high.
