Whilst every visit to Redgrave and Lopham Fen is tailor made to suit your class and their curriculum needs, popular themes for activities emerge.

For younger pupils

A journey of two rivers
Both the River Waveney and the Little Ouse begin at Redgrave and Lopham Fen. Investigate how these major rivers begin and develop. Find out how water has shaped the fen and affected the lives of local people and wildlife over the years.

Exploring Habitats
Discover the plants and animals in our mosaic of habitats. Find out how they are adapted to their environment and investigate their interactions with each other.

Wildlife and People
Investigate how people use and affect the natural world - past and present - and look at ways they try to manage it.

Plant safari
Interview a plant and discover the importance of light, water, temperature and growth. Follow the transport of water, nutrients and carbohydrates. Uncover the secrets of pollination, seed production, seed dispersal and germination.

Water for life
Investigate the journey of water through the hydrological cycle and discover the importance of water in our lives. Use dipping nets to explore the fen. Study adaptations to life in water. Identify and classify flora and fauna. Find out how they interact in food chains and webs and consider how we can protect water resources for the future.

A Walk on the Wild Side
New and exciting ways to get to know nature. A sensory experience that children delight in.
