SCHOOLS’ FOOTBALL FOR GIRLS.
URGENT !!! VOLUNTEERS WANTED.
FAO: HEAD OF PE AND TEACHERS INTERESTED IN GIRLS’
FOOTBALL.
Dear Colleague,
At regular intervals during the last fifteen months I have made it known that I will be unable to continue all of my current commitments to schools’ football for girls. In June, 2004 I will be taking on extra responsibilities in football administration. Consequently I have had to review my current situation and take into account any future commitments to reach a satisfactory balance.
I will be relinquishing the following responsibilities and a volunteer or volunteers are needed to fill these roles:
a) a co-ordinator for all 4 competitions
or b) co-ordinators for the 2 competitions for a particular age group
or c) a co-ordinator for the 2 League competitions
and a co-ordinator for the 2 Knockout Trophy competitions
or d) co-ordinators for each single competition.
These are a few suggestions on how these competitions can be managed. I cannot think of any other alternatives but I am sure that there are some. If you have any suggestions you are welcome to propose them.
If volunteers are not forthcoming the provision of schools’ football for girls could be seriously curtailed and a very reduced programme provided.
PTO
Experiences this season have emphasised the need to review the management and support structures of the two squads for future seasons. Currently I manage the U14’s and Sue Milne the U16’s. I wish to put on record Sue’s invaluable contribution and commitment over the last three seasons. She will not be involved next season as she wishes to concentrate on other commitments.
Our recommendations are:
a) that there needs to be a joint management team of two adults for each squad. At least one needs to be a practising or retired teacher and one needs to be a female. The second joint manager could be a responsible adult, who satisfies the conditions approved by ESFA for the involvement of non-teachers.
b) that each squad has the support of a qualified first-aider or a physio, who could be one of the joint managers or a third member.
I would like to continue to co-ordinate the organisation of the County squads, organising the selection process, confirming the fixture lists and match day arrangements. Also I would be willing to be a part of one of the joint management teams if required.
I am looking forward to a continuous stream of telephone calls from all you prospective volunteers or from interested people with relevant comments.
Best wishes,
Stuart Dracup
