Dear
Head teacher,
KEEPING
UP WITH THE CHILDREN
I
am writing to let you know that there will be further opportunities to offer
this free course for parents in your school during the 2004/2005 academic year.
The
aim of the course is to inform parents about the National Literacy and Numeracy
Strategies and to help them to support their childrens English and Maths
learning at home.
Qualified
teaching staff from the Norfolk Family Learning Programme have been delivering Keeping Up With The Children in schools
around the county for the last four years. Feedback has been consistently
positive, with schools reporting an increase in parental interest and
involvement in school life and parents expressing greater confidence in
supporting their childrens learning.
Courses
are funded through the Learning and Skills Council and no costs are passed on
to the school. However, in order best to foster home-school links, schools are
expected to provide accommodation for the six two-hour sessions during the
school day. If this is not possible in your school, please contact this office
to discuss.
In
order to satisfy funding requirements, a minimum of 8 parents need to be
recruited. If you feel that this number could potentially be reached, please
complete the attached form and return to the address above.
Yours
faithfully,
Sylvia
