“Eliminate Negative Feelings Towards School, Help Those With Learning/Behaviour Challenges AND Reach Disaffected Learners With The Help Of Brain Dojo”

Dear Sir or Madam

I am writing to invite you to send a member of your team to a training day that will teach a system to help dyslexic, dyspraxic, A.D.H.D, and EBD children. It will also impact, and more importantly motivate, disaffected learners.

The system I am teaching is ’Brain Dojo’ which is a programme using the principles from many areas including; Accelerated Learning, Brain Gym, Retained Reflexes, NLP and Martial Arts.

I imagine you receive many invitations like this and I know you have many things to consider when deciding how to spend you training funds. With this in mind please allow me to tell you a little about the Brain Dojo system.

I have a 25 year history in Martial Arts, I have also worked with EBD children at a residential unit in Suffolk and in the learning support department at New Eccles Hall School. During this time I searched out and used many ideas to help me to be more effective in these roles.

Brain Dojo is an amalgamation of many ideas placed into a progressive syllabus that provides positive feedback and measurable success to children. The lift in self esteem gained from learning respectful Martial Arts coupled with effective techniques from other schools of thought, provides a massive boost to self esteem. It also provides a ‘way in’ to those difficult to reach kids who believe learning is boring or that they are too stupid to learn. Brain Dojo is a perfect tool for physical learners and those who have excessive amounts of energy.

I have been working with Dr. Rini Hoogkamer (Child Psychiatrist, Bethel, Norwich) on developing Brain Dojo and he has referred many clients to us. He has also given me a short testimonial which I have placed at the end of this letter.

I have spoken twice at the Norfolk Secondary Behaviour Forum at the request of Rita Adair Senior Educational Psychologist at the Westwood Centre.

I will be speaking and demonstrating Brain Dojo at ‘Special Needs Norfolk’ in October.

I have worked with several schools using Brain Dojo always with positive results. Hethersett High School being one of the most recent.

We currently teach Brain Dojo once weekly to students from West Earlham High School (Centre of Excellence) and Aylsham Rd Centre. We have also been conducting one to one sessions with eight children at New Eccles Hall School for the last two academic years.

Brain Dojo has, I believe, fantastic potential to help children. My time however (and that of my staff) is finite. We cannot, by ourselves, reach anything like the number of children who could potentially benefit from this programme.

I would like to train PE or other ‘active’ staff from schools all over the county (and eventually country) to operate this simple system.

In one day I can teach an active member of staff the first 3 levels of our system. This means they will have enough material to work with the groups mentioned above, in your school, for up to 25 weeks. This will enable you to fully evaluate the system ‘in house.’

I will provide back up, advice and further training as and when required.

I know your budget is limited and this is precisely why I would like to train your staff to use Brain Dojo rather than have you buy in outside expert help.

I imagine you would like to know more before making a commitment? It is difficult to answer all the possible questions in a letter so I would like to make you and win/win offer.

On Monday 6th September from 9.30am to 3.30pm I will teach staff from schools in Norfolk the first three levels of the system at our full time Academy in Norwich. As I said earlier in this letter, this will provide enough material for at least 6 months use in your school.

The investment required for the day is £147/ staff member but, if you pay before August 1st, I will discount this to £97 each.

So that you have no risk at all, I will offer a full refund for anyone who does not feel that the system is of any use to them, provided they tell me this by 12noon on the training day.

Currently Osiris Educational charge £197/person for this course. I have enclosed a copy of an evaluation sheet they sent me following a one day course I taught for them in London earlier this month.

If you do enjoy using the system and agree upon its effectiveness, I have higher levels of training available to enable you to run the complete system ‘in house’ in your school.

If you have any questions please call me.

Yours sincerely

Richard Vince

As a doctor who is concerned with the physical and emotional well being of vulnerable youngsters, I am always on the look out for positive developments. Brain Dojo might well be one of these hoped for future innovations, developed locally, available now!

I have been impressed and gripped by the potential benefits that a system like Brain Dojo might well bring to individuals and groups of children. The plan is that we will be able to conduct proper scientific research into this system in the near future to find out how effective it is. For the time being I would like to say: think for yourself, and ask what could happen if you tried it.“
